Villaflores

2014

In 2008, the credit crunch in Spanish banks caused the property bubble to burst. Hundreds of thousands of unsold apartments and development sites on the outskirts of the major cities have turned into fallow suburban estates. Villaflores is one of countless sites serviced for development then abandoned, where life has resumed through the return of pioneer plant species. These pictures were taken with an 8x10” view camera in July 2014. Following an earlier series on the ruins in 2013, they focus on this landscape’s revitalisation.
