Jürgen Nefzger - HEXAGONE – THE MANUFACTURED LANDSCAPE

Made between 1995 and 2001 and published as the first part of Hexagone with the title “The Manufactured Landscape,” this section brings together images that comprise a portrait of modern urban life. From the fall of the housing blacks to the blossoming of detached houses, from the development of the new towns to the construction of major ensembles in tourist zones, Jürgen Nefzger takes us around a France that is not very comely. The manufactured dimension of the landscape sometimes verges on factitiousness: several images seem disconcertingly unreal, and yet it is all really there, witness to this reality that we are building for ourselves.
